Danica Tokashi is the last of the quietly prosperous Tokashi family, or at least she was until she adopted Mai. She really does consider Mai to be her sister, but why she truly took in a complete stranger remains hidden in the labyrinthine recesses of Danica's brain, as well as exactly how the Tokashi family got to be quite so prosperous. Mai would like to ask but is too polite to actually do so. Anyway, everyone deserves to have some secrets, right? Danica has all sorts of information on all sorts of people, after all of her years in the investigative business, and has made a few powerful enemies because of it. She tries to do good whenever she can, and succeeds 98% of the time.
